500 kilometres of Marathon bicycling will be ridden in two stages:
Day 1: Kilpisjärvi - Äkäslompolo, 250 km
Day 2: Äkäslompolo - Matarengi - Haparanda - Tornio, 250 km
Entries:

Name, address, identity number, the chosen cycling class, T-shirt size and how many times you have participated in the Marathon Bicycling.
Entry fee
200 € by 30.6.
230 € by 28.7.
250 € after 29.7.

Included in the entry fee:
o Bus transportation from Tornioto the starting place in Kilpisjärvi (with equipment)
o Accommodation with a meal, breakfast and a sauna bath in Kilpisjärvi and Äkäslompolo
o Sauna and dinner in Tornio
o Marathonmedallion and T-shirt, as well as lottery prizes
o Refreshments, snacks and equipment service during the tour (cost of spare parts will be charged separately)
o Accident insurance
o Massage treatment (charged separately)
Transportation:
Registration for the Marathon, as well as loading the bicycles into the bus, begins on
Thursday 29.7. at 9am (Finnish time).
The buses will depart for Kilpisjärvi at 11 o’clock.

No time taking or ranking in any class. The course is ridden with the appointed cycling speed. Pauses are included in the average speed.You may change class after day 1.
Day 1, Kilpisjärvi – Äkäslompolo, will start:

Touring 2 at 7:30 am
Fitness cycling at 9:15 am
Day 2, Äkäslompolo – Tornio, will start:
Touring 1 at 6am
Touring 2 at 7:30 am
Fitness cycling at 9am
N.B.
Some longer bicycling tours are recommended before the Marathon Bicycling in order to familiarise oneself with the adjustments of the bike and to get used to sitting on the bicycle saddle for about am. 10.30 hours in a day. It is also a good idea to have one’s bicycle serviced; checking the bearings, gear, the chains and the tires is recommended for such a long tour.
We kindly ask you to be prepared for chilly and rainy weather, too. Long-sleeved as well as waterproof clothing is recommended. A bicycle helmet is compulsory during the cycling!
