XXXX Marathon Cycling 24-26.7.2025 - English

Timetable

• Registration and packing of bicycles begins on thursday 24.7.2025 at 8 am in Tornio Umpitunneli, Hallituskatu 16, 95400 Tornio
• Bus transportation from Tornio to Kilpisjärvi starts at 10 am 24.7.2025 in front of Umpitunneli
• Cycling takes place on friday and saturday 25-26.7.2025
• Arrival to Tornio on saturday approximately at ~4-5 pm.

Route

Friday 25.7: Kilpisjärvi - Äkäslompolo ~250 km

• We have six service stations during the day with drink and meal service
• The last 53 kilometers starting from  Olos service station to Äkäslompolo is "free speed"

Saturday 26.7: Äkäslompolo - Tornio ~250 km

• We have six service stations during the day with drink and meal service
• Riding in four different speed groups for the whole time
• Map from the route can be found from the link

Note

• Organizators have a right for route etc. changes (mostly due to road construction work)
• We can English language - communication is not an issue

Groups

Group 1

• Average speed 20 km/h including service breaks. Cycling speed approximately 25 km/h
• Riding safely in group frequently changing persons in the front
• Baggages of each cyclist can be accessed durind the service breaks

Group 2

• Average speed 25-27 km/h including service breaks. Cycling speed approximately 30-32 km/h
• Riding safely in group frequently changing persons in the front
• Baggages of each cyclist can be accessed durind the service breaks

Group 3

• Average speed 30 km/h including service breaks. Cycling speed  +36 km/h
• Riding safely in group continuosly changing persons in the front, see link
• Baggages of each cyclist can be accessed durind the service breaks

Other information

• There is no timing, the cycling takes place in above mentioned groups with agreed average speed
• The start times of each group have been timed so that cyclists arrive to finish of both stages ~simultaenously
• It is relatively easy to ride in groups as most of the time is spent in the slipstream protected from the wind
• Event arranger has right to cancel some speed groups if there are less than 10 cyclists in the group
• The speed group can be changed after the first day if needed
• Service car is available for resting if cyclist feels fatigued

Some additional notes

• Organizers take no responsibility of the transportation damages with bikes - protect accordingly
• It is a must to use cycling helmet
• Use of triathlon bars during the group riding is not allowed
• Participants are not insured by the organizer.
• It is recommended that the bicycles get service prior to start
• Early morning in the arctic mountains can be chilly, this should be noted in clothing
• Participants have access to their baggages during each service station
